Address of Record: While your license is on Inactive status, your address of record will be your residence address, and you are still
required to notify the Commission within 10 days of any change in that address.
License Renewal: A license on Inactive status must still be timely renewed in order to avoid license expiration.
Brokers-in-Charge (BICs): Placing your license on Inactive status will terminate your BIC Eligible status and your BIC designation.
If you wish to regain BIC Eligible status [and, in turn, BIC designation], please contact License Services for instructions
(
LS@ncrec.gov
or
919.875.3700
, x772).
Provisional Brokers (PBs): PBs must complete the 90-hour postlicensing requirement within 18 months of initial
licensure to remain on or be eligible for active status. Postlicensing courses timeout after 2 years, so it is
important to complete the program in full within 2 years or less, to avoid having to repeat courses at a later date.
See Commission Rule
58A .1902
.
Continuing Education: You are not required to satisfy the eight (8) hours of continuing education for each license period
while your license is on inactive status. However, you may choose to complete continuing education annually to avoid increased
educational requirements to activate at a later date. See Commission Rule
58A .1703
.
Reactivating an Inactive License: Continuing education and postlicensing (if applicable) deficiency requirements must be completed
prior to activation and a properly completed
License Activation and Broker Affiliation form (REC 2.08)
must be received by the commission. See Commission Rules
58A .1703
and
58A .1902
regarding educational requirements for license activation.
